Challenge: Balance historic preservation as part of the National Register of Historic Places with additional development. Ensure the continued authenticity of the Stockyards.

Outcome:

  • Form-based code that increases predictability, preserves existing character and enhances walkability.
  • Three tiers with different level of regulation: historic core, transition and edge.
  • Place-based approach to promote rehabilitation of historic resources.
  • Coded for historic mass and scale and consistent character along streets.
