Code Studio works on plans and codes that yield vibrant, mixed use, walkable communities through creative urban infill and redevelopment strategies.

Founded in 2006, we believe that right-sizing plans and codes requires a deep understanding of community’s character, whether that character is based on our analysis of existing patterns or on new best practices for transformational future patterns.

We are a leader in form-based codes with award-winning innovation and approach to projects. Form-based code work constitutes a substantial part of our current national zoning practice. When we craft new regulations, we believe they must be fully understood by local citizens and property owners, easily administered by local staff, produce a predictable end result, and above all, fit within the existing legal and regulatory framework.

We are small but tough. We’ve got the moxie it takes to effectively handle public meetings, as well as internal technical policy discussions. We make complex concepts simple to understand. We are adept at preparing elegant, visual documents. Our work gets adopted. We are passionate about improving the form and functionality of our urban places.

We help communities think boldly about their future.

We synthesize community aspirations into implementable plans and codes.

We design realistic solutions for today’s marketplace.

Code Studio has extensive experience in working with variety of communities across the United States and our work is often recognized for its level of innovation and creativity.
