Studio Lead: Zoning/Urban Design
Los Angeles, CA

Code Studio is looking to hire a seasoned professional to help manage our growing portfolio of national and international urban design, zoning, and form-based code work.
We are seeking a Studio Lead for our newly established LA office with strong project management skills alongside a passion for zoning and urban design. We are looking for an applicant who is well-organized and detail-oriented, who will thrive managing a diverse range of zoning and planning projects.

About You:

You have 5 to 10 years of private consulting experience in planning, zoning, or urban design. We are interested in hiring someone with a real passion for life. We are looking for an individual who is a motivated team player, has excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills, and most importantly, is passionate about building diverse and inclusive cities.

Location:

We are currently seeking someone for a full-time position in our Los Angeles office. The position will be hybrid, mostly in-person with some remote workdays. This position will require overnight travel to our client cities.

Entry/Mid-Level – Zoning/Urban Design Associate
Multiple Locations

We are currently looking to fill multiple full-time positions in one of our regional offices – Los Angeles, Atlanta, Austin, or Toronto/Hamilton. The positions will be hybrid, mostly in-person with some remote workdays.

About the Role:

You may be involved in:

  • Project management and employee supervision
  • Managing client expectations, team communication, and sub-consultant coordination
  • Zoning and form-based code drafting and interpretation
  • Preparation of presentations and production of planning and urban design studies
  • Illustrative plans, sections, and perspective renderings, both hand and digital
  • Site analysis and existing conditions documentation
  • Analysis and concept diagrams
  • Site plans and area mapping
  • GIS mapping and analysis

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong Sketch-Up skills
  • Strong Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro
  • Excellent computer rendering, massing, and other graphic visualization skills
  • Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills
  • Fluency with multidisciplinary and multi-cultural design teams
